You need to know how to enjoy reading and writing stories beforehand. This course does not teach grammar, punctuation, etc. It's for people who already like to write, but are a bit lost as to how to learn more about it.

This course requires that the student understand the basics of grammar and how to follow a storyline. It's also recommended that the student has enjoyed writing for a couple years before joining this course, which is more difficult to find in a younger student. However, if you are confident your elementary student enjoys writing enough to join and has a good grasp of the basics, I'd be happy to discuss the possibility of taking them on.

During our monthly video call, cameras are required to be on unless the parent contacts me and requests that we keep it off. I understand that some parents don’t wish for their children’s faces to be on video calls, and I respect that. However, besides that case, students should keep their camera on during the video call to foster more discussion and engagement. (It’s hard to answer questions from a black screen!) If you're concerned about your child's safety, parents are welcome to sit in on the calls, but it's requested that the parents do not actively participate in the call.

At the end of this course, you will have an understanding of essential writing skills, a developed fiction story premise, a stronger support network, and a clear view on how writing fits into your life.

That's great! When applications open, there will be a family option for more than one student. However, it's important to know that, while your students can read the lessons together, they must do every exercise separately.
